Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Begin Your Safari Adventure

Your journey begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your Nairobi hotel by a professional safari guide in a 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser. Depart Nairobi around 7:00 am and drive southwest towards the Masai Mara Game Reserve, covering approximately 280 kilometers (5–6 hours) including stops along the way.

The first stop is the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the escarpments, valley floor, and distant mountains. This is an excellent opportunity for photos and to stretch your legs. Next, a short break in Narok town allows you to purchase refreshments, local crafts, and souvenirs before continuing the journey to the Masai Mara.

Arrive at your budget-friendly permanent tented camp in the early afternoon, where you will check in and have lunch. After settling in and a brief rest, head out for your first afternoon game drive around 3:30 pm, exploring the Mara’s rolling savannahs and riverine areas. Expect to see lions lounging under acacia trees, herds of elephants wandering, cheetahs on the prowl, and plains animals such as zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests. If fortune favors, you may also spot the elusive leopard or black rhino. The game drive continues until sunset, when the animals are often most active.

Return to the camp in the evening for dinner, relax by the campfire, and enjoy the sounds of the African wilderness. Overnight at Miti Mingi Eco Camp in a comfortable tent.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari in Masai Mara

Wake up early around 6:00 am and enjoy a hot breakfast at the camp, followed by a full-day game drive starting at 6:30 am. Today, explore more of the Mara ecosystem, visiting open savannahs, riverbanks, and woodland areas. Your experienced guide will take you to prime wildlife-viewing locations where you may encounter lions, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, gazelles, and a variety of bird species.

Mid-morning, stop at a scenic spot for tea, coffee, or snacks while observing the wildlife and photographing the landscapes. Continue your game drive through the park, stopping at rivers where hippos and crocodiles can often be seen.

Enjoy lunch at the camp around 1:00 pm, followed by an optional siesta or rest period. In the afternoon, embark on a second game drive from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm, when the lighting is perfect for photography and the animals are most active before sunset. Return to camp for dinner, share stories with fellow travelers, and spend the night under the starry African sky.
